Origin: Brauerei Aying (Aying, Germany)
Style: Keller Bier
Notes: In 1877, Ayinger founder Johann Liebhard started construction of the brewery. Being able to brew and store the beer in the colder months of the year, his first batch was ready by early 1878. He made note of the positive review:
The first beer served by us, excellent and with a full house. Michl and Müller from Höhenkirchen were so inebriated, they fell over ten times on the way home.
This Kellerbier, an old-style ale, is brewed in honor of Johann Liebhard. It’s bottle fermented, which means you’ll see sedimentation, aka “floaties” in the beer.
