Origin: Brauerei Hubertus Bräu Johann Kühtreiber (Laa an der Thaya, Austria)
Notes: Austrian brewing towns, Part II: The Duke of Austria gave the town of Laa an der Thaya the right to brew beer in the mid 1400’s – under one condition: town citizens must supply him with a keg of beer on all major holidays. Thus the name “Festbock” – bock brewed for festivities. Ah…if getting a liquor license were only this simple in British Columbia…
Trivia: (Brewery logo) The image of a hart with an illumining cross between its antlers refers to the legend of St. Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters.
